Mass without an Altar Server:

IMG_1690.jpg

When a Priest is celebrating Mass without an Altar Server, what changes are made?

There are three main changes that take place when a Priest offers Mass without an Altar Server.

First, throughout the Mass the Priest says all of the responses that the server would normally say.

Second, the server’s Confiteor is omitted. Once the priest completes his Confiteor he says “Miseratur nostril…” and then “Indulgentiam…” and continues the rest of the prayers as he would normally.

Third, the Priest transfers the Missal himself, to the Gospel side, and back to the Epistle corner before the Communion verse. As he moves the book he pauses to bow before the tabernacle.
