The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius visited Fatima, Portugal,
from September 8-11, 2010 for a liturgical conference on the
Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
seminarians traveled from all over Portugal to attend. Other attendees
came from Spain and Italy. Conferences were open to priests,
seminarians, religious brothers and sisters as well as the laity. The
conferences were given in the Hotel de Fatima.
explained the rubrics of the Traditional Latin Mass, the spirituality
and history of this ancient form of the Roman Rite, which Pope Benedict
XVI has restored to the entire Church. Additionally, we lectured on the
symbolism of the ceremonies of the Mass and the hermeneutic of
continuity under Pope Benedict XVI.
A special feature of the conference included an introduction to the
ancient form of the Latin Rite Mass known as the Rite of Braga by Fr.
Lectures were given in English and Portuguese with the help of translators from the World Apostolate of Fatima.
The Portuguese website we created (http://sanctamissaportugal.wordpress.com/) provided the registrants from Portugal in-depth articles and news in preparation for the conferences.
The celebratory Mass, honoring Our Lady of Fatima, on the 3rd
anniversary of Pope Benedict's Summorum Pontificum, was offered at the
Basilica of the Most Holy Rosary in Fatima by Rev. C. Frank Phillips,
CR, Founder of the Canons Regular.

Joseph Santos celebrates the Rite of Braga. Several Solemn Masses (1962 Missale Romanum) were offered in the Chapel
of Opus Sanctorum Angelorum at the Monastery of the Canons Regular of
the Holy Cross in Fatima.
