On
Saturday, January 10, 2009, during the midst of a blizzard, the Canons
Regular of St. John Cantius hosted a workshop for laity in the
Extraordinary Form. The parishioners of St. Peter's Church in Volo,
Illinois, thoroughly enjoyed the day of Solemn Liturgies, from Mass,
Vespers to Benediction. Fr. Frank Phillips, C.R., Fr. Dennis Kolinski,
S.J.C. and Fr. Scott A. Haynes, S.J.C. gave talks on the Traditional

August 29, 2008 - From August 25-29, 2008, laity from around the Midwestern region of the

June 3, 2008 - With enthusiasm,
priests and seminarians descended upon the campus of Mundelein Seminary
on May 19, 2008, to attend a hands-on workshop on the celebration of
the Extraordinary Form of the Mass of the Roman Rite held at the
Cardinal Stritch Retreat House. For the next five days, these priests
and seminarians, who hailed not only from the Archdiocese of Chicago,
but from all over the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Lithuania,
Italy, and the Philippines, would study the ceremony, ritual, rubrics
of the Missal of Blessed John XXIII... (more)
In order to better serve Catholics who wish
to worship according to the Forma
extraordinaria, ample and ongoing
catechesis in the form of the Mass must be available. This can only be
achieved if, first of all, priests and seminarians are prepared to
serve this need. I have therefore asked the Canons Regular of St. John
Cantius, whose charism is the "Restoration of the Sacred," to assist
the archdiocese by providing training for priests and seminarians in
the extraordinary form of the Roman rite according to the liturgical
books of 1962, and by offering catechesis to the faithful in this form
of the sacred liturgy.
